STUART CHAPPELL

With over 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Stuart is a highly accomplished hotel professional with extensive expertise in the management of large-scale, four- and five-star hotels across the UK, Europe, and Asia. His career began at an early age, helping in his parents’ Bed & Breakfast, sparking a lifelong passion for hotel operations and service excellence.

Stuart has held numerous senior leadership roles, including Regional and General Manager positions at some of the UK’s most prominent hotels. In 2007, he was appointed General Manager of The Cumberland Hotel in London, then the largest hotel in the UK, overseeing more than 1,000 bedrooms and a complex operation with multiple restaurants, bars, conference facilities. Shortly after his appointment this role was expanded to oversee both The Cumberland and Marble Arch Thistle hotel with a combined bedroom stock of 1,700 and a turnover close to £100 million. His tenure was marked by strong financial performance, improved guest satisfaction, and significant reductions in staff turnover.

Internationally, Stuart brings considerable experience, having led the pre-opening phase of the flagship Guoman Hotel in Beijing and spending over 11 years in Malta with Corinthia Hotels. As Area General Manager, he was responsible for a cluster of four hotels, including five-star resort and city properties, managing combined revenues in excess of €55 million. His leadership encompassed full operational responsibility alongside commercial, financial, HR, and engineering functions, successfully delivering sustained financial growth, improved employee engagement, and high customer satisfaction.
