Time Line

September 2005 – Legacy Hotels commences trading with five unbranded hotels across England.

November 2006 – Legacy Hotels takes on three former Swallow Hotels each from separate investment groups. One of these, The Rose & Crown, Salisbury remains with the group today having been repositioned and refurbished, becoming the city’s first 4 star hotel.

October 2008 – Legacy Hotels opens its first new build hotel, The Preston International – 75 keys which remains proudly under contract today.

June 2009 – Legacy Hotels contracts the Royal Hotel, Cardiff, and Wyck Hill House, Stow-on-the-Wold for the freeholder following the demise of Niche Hotels.

April 2013 – through a joint venture – Branded Hotel Management, now fully owned by the shareholders of Legacy, the group were appointed, via a OJEU process, by Liverpool City Council to deliver the UK’s first new build Pullman Hotel delivering 216 keys on the city’s waterfront in collaboration with the ACC Group.

June 2013 – Legacy Hotels appointed to operate a portfolio of seven hotels to include the rebrand and reposition of two former Ramada Hotels from the management of BDL Hotels.

April 2014 – Legacy Hotels takes on two branded hotels – to include Europe’s very first Hampton by Hilton – Corby/Kettering. After a few years under management for the assets initial developer the hotel sold to the group’s principal investor. Upon the hotels 10th birthday Legacy Hotels fully managed the first full property improvement plan (PiP) for a Hampton in Europe – the hotel continues to be a solid contributor to the group’s performance today.

April 2015 – Legacy Hotels contracted to operate a portfolio of five hotels to include the Crown Plaza Royal Terrace, Edinburgh.

September 2017 – following a two-year engagement with Tesco Stores, Legacy Hotels are appointed to actively work with the design team to deliver a new build, 124 keys, Holiday Inn Express on its global head office campus in Hertfordshire. The project is due to tender in early 2022 with commencement onsite anticipated in H2 2022.

October 2017 – approaching its first full year of operations and significantly underperforming Legacy Hotels were engaged to operate the new build Hilton Garden Hilton for its owners – Sunderland FC.

August 2018 – as part of the cities creation of the multi million pound life sciences project to deliver The Knowledge Quarter – Legacy Hotels were again successful in its second OJEU process for Liverpool City Council to conceive and deliver, EMEA’s first new generation 221 rooms and suites – Novotel at Paddington Village – due to open in H1 2022.

October 2018 – the Legacy Hotels shareholders acquire the site and planning consent from the local authority at High Wycombe – junction 4/M40 and progress the development of the UK’s first fully compliant new prototype Hampton by Hilton. Working closely with the Hilton design team – this project is being used as a review and republish of the brand design and cost template.
The project commenced at the start of 2020 yet retained momentum despite the global pandemic – the hotel opened successfully on 14th June 2021 and within the first full month of trading had achieved its MPI fair share of the relevant competitive set.

October 2018 – Legacy Hotels are appointed as the assent managers of the Hilton Garden Inn Luton North Hotel on behalf of overseas investors. The first Hilton Garden Inn developed in the UK is operated under the management of Hilton UK.

October 2019  Legacy Hotels are appointed to open and operate the 244 key (with banqueting up to 600 covers) new build Courtyard by Marriott Hotel on Heathrow’s Bath Road. With a skyline restaurant and bar overlooking the main runway the hotel commenced trading in Q2 2021.

March 2021 – Legacy Hotels Hotels & Resorts appointed to assist in the development and operation of the new build 146 bedroom Hampton by Hilton, Rochdale. The project is a joint venture between Rochdale Council and Genr8 Developments.

January 2022 – Legacy Hotels Hotels & Resorts engaged to assist in the development of the new build 142 bedroom Hampton by Hilton Telford in conjunction with Genr8 Developments and Telford and Wrekin Council.

October 2022 – Legacy Hotels are appointed as asset managers of the Hilton Garden Inn Stoke Hotel. The hotel owned by Genr8 Developments opened in the summer of 2020 is managed by RBH Hospitality Management.

March 2023 – Legacy Hotels & Resorts are appointed to manage the 103 room Holiday Inn Express Preston South.
